Dr. James McMillan, professor in the VCU School of Education’s Foundations of Education Department, has received the 2017 Jason Millman award from the Consortium for Research on Educational Assessment and Teaching Effectiveness (CREATE).

McMillan was recognized for his body of work advancing the use of evaluation and assessment in the service of education. He was presented the award at CREATE’s 26th Annual Conference in Virginia Beach on October 6, 2017.

The conference website mentions that "Dr. McMillan has published numerous journal articles, book chapters and reports. He has authored over a dozen books, and has presented nationally and internationally... Through these contributions and his active participation in many professional associations, Dr James McMillan has established a well-earned reputation as a leading authority on assessment."

The Millman Award was created in 1998 as a tribute to Jason Millman, a leader in advancing student assessment, teacher evaluation, credentialing of professionals, standards-setting and other areas. Additional information is available on the CREATE Conference website.
