ENVEST program grant to bring social change through sport all over globe

Dr. Carrie LeCrom, director of the School of Education's Center for Sport Leadership, has received a major grant to fund the ENVEST (Empowering New Voices through Education and Sport Training) program.

Funded by the U.S. State Department, ENVEST will use the medium of sport as a means of increasing education, public health and social change in 11 countries around the world.

These countries include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Similar to last year's Project PUSH, the ENVEST program will see coaches and athletes from other countries travel to Richmond to receive leadership and teacher training. A team of Center for Sport Leadership faculty and staff will make a return trip to these countries later in the year to evaluate the coaches' progress.
