For undergraduates, we offer an innovative five-year extended teacher preparation program, designed to help you earn your bachelor’s degree and a Master of Teaching degree at the same time.
Students in our Master of Teaching program choose from nine different concentrations in which to earn their degree. Typically, your bachelor’s degree major must match your M.T. concentration (for example, those pursuing the English education concentration for the M.T. degree must major in English for their undergraduate work).
Liberal studies for early and elementary education
Those entering the early and elementary education concentration of the M.T. degree must enroll in VCU’s Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a liberal studies for early and elementary education major. This program prepares students for their careers in the classroom by providing a well-rounded education, with courses in fields ranging from social studies and math to special education.
For admission requirements and deadlines, please visit the College of Humanities and Sciences’ liberal studies and early elementary education website or visit the program’s VCU Bulletin page.
