Center for Teacher Leadership

Our Center for Teacher Leadership believes that one of the fastest ways to improve student learning is to support and develop the teachers themselves, tranforming them into confident, passionate leaders.

To that end, the center has created a number of diverse programs, all designed to providing training and education that advance the profession of teaching.

The innovative Richmond Teacher Residency program, for instance, pairs prospective teachers with an experienced educator in Richmond Public Schools. This partnership allows the student to experience urban education classrooms first-hand, and helps set up the support structure they'll need to be successful as a teacher.

Likewise, the center's Clinical Faculty Program connects top preK-12 teachers with School of Education students during the student teaching portion of their program, providing them support and mentorship during a time consistently pinpointed as the most important part of teacher preparation.
