This is a series on student-driven topics on issues of equity in education and a way for our students, faculty, and staff to address their ongoing problems of practice in the field. We will also have inspirational discussions with those leading the charge on issues of diversity and inclusion in Education.

Episode 7: Opportunity Is Calling - In this episode, Dr. Faith Wilkerson chats with Dr. Mignonne Guy, Associate Professor in the Department of African American Studies and Javonne Bowles, Senior Interdisciplinary Studies Senior at VCU. Both women are working on a curriculum which would include a 3-credit course which would provide all VCU students with a foundational understanding of racial literacy.

Episode 4: Black Girl Genius - In this episode, Dr. Faith Wilkerson chats with Dr. Danielle Apugo, assistant professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Virginia Commonwealth University. Our conversation focuses on her desire for Black women and girls to not merely be defined for their ability to survive racism, abuse and violence. Our conversation focuses on the overarching themes they have seen in the evolution of Special Education, how they ended up working in the field, and what they think should be done to increase the shortage of Black educators.
Episode 2: The Collective - In this episode, Dr. Faith Wilkerson chats with VCU students Erin Hanley and Tosha Yingling who are members of a group known as 'The Collective'. This is a group of graduate and Ph.D students at the University who support Black students and other marginalized groups in pursuit of opportunity.
