The goal of the Partnership for People with Disabilities is to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them become more self-sufficient at home, at work and in their communities.

To this end, the Partnership bridges the gap between the advancements being made in the academic world and those working in the field, serving people with disabilities every day. It does so by offering education, health, early childhood and community living training programs for both providers as well as people with disabilities themselves.

Part of a national network of similar university centers (and the only such center in Virginia), the Partnership serves a wide range of ages, from early childhood to adults. Since its founding in 1985, the center has also worked closely with state and government agencies to develop effective systems of care for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Related units and projects within the Partnership include the Center for Family Involvement, the Training and Technical Assistance Center and Va-LEND.

Partnership for People with Disabilities mission
