2020 VCU Summer Learning Academy

A student types on her laptop at a desk. Her smartphone sits on the table to her left; a coffee cup sits on the table to her right.

NEW: There is now a 50% COST REDUCTION for each session in the Summer Learning Academy due to the change to an online format and in respect to the current financial impact COVID-19 is having on our educators.

Registration ends June 5, 2020. Seating is limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early!

All sessions take place Monday-Friday in an online format. Each session is uniquely designed by the facilitator(s) to balance face-to-face (Zoom) instruction, collaboration and independent work.

Each session costs $250. You will be required to submit a non-refundable $50 deposit for each session you register for via this Google form. The remaining $200 payment for each session is due the Friday before the week of the session(s) you register for. An email confirming your registration with a link to pay your remaining $200 will be sent to you prior to the week of your session(s). If you do not pay your remaining $200 balance for the session(s) you register for by the Friday before your session(s) begins, you will be withdrawn from the session and will not be refunded your $50 deposit.

Any qualified applicant who registers for and submits a $50 deposit/session can possibly receive a $200 scholarship/session to offset the remaining cost of each $250 session. Designated grant funds are provided through VCU’s Minority Educators Recruitment, Retention, & Equity Center (MERREC) to increase professional development for educators of color. Please contact Dr. Faith Wilkerson, MERREC program director, at fawilker@vcu.edu to find out if you are qualified for their scholarship funds.

Participants earn a certificate of 40 hours of professional learning that can be submitted for recertification points per your school district's discretion.
