Dr. Jesse Senechal, interim director of the School of Education’s Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium, was interviewed by CBS 6 for his perspective on why Virginia teachers are leaving the classroom.

Senechal wrote about this issue in his 2016 study titled Understanding Teacher Morale, which looked at how local teachers felt about their work and made a number of policy recommendations aimed at boosting teachers’ job satisfaction and morale.

The CBS 6 story also features Sarah Pedersen and Brad Mock, teachers in Richmond Public Schools and past participants in VCU SOE’s Richmond Teacher Residency.

The video and an accompanying news story are both available on the CBS 6 website.
