The School of Education is proud to announce it has reached its goal of $50,000 raised in support of the newly-founded 50th Anniversary Urban Education Scholarship. As an added bonus, crossing this monetary milestone means the school will receive an additional $50,000 from an anonymous supporter, who had generously agreed to match the funds raised should the school hit its target.
Founded as part of the School of Education’s anniversary celebrations last academic year, the 50th Anniversary Urban Education Scholarship supports promising students pursuing careers that improve educational opportunities in high-need environments.
This year, the inaugural 50th Anniversary Urban Education Scholarship was given to Luke Evancoe, a former Marine sergeant currently pursuing a career as a science teacher through the Richmond Teacher Residency program.
