VCU School of Education alumnus Dr. Michael Gill has been named as the next superintendent of Hanover County Public Schools in a unanimous decision, the school board announced on Nov. 10.
Gill, currently the county’s assistant superintendent of instructional leadership and chief academic officer, will officially move into his new position on Dec. 1.
“It is a blessing to have this opportunity,” Gill said in an email, “and I feel as prepared as one can, in large part due to VCU.”
Gill’s connection to the VCU School of Education runs deep. In addition to serving as a faculty member for the Department of Educational Leadership’s Ed.D. program, Gill is also a three-time graduate of the school, having received his doctorate, master’s degree and post-master’s certificate here.
