Dr. Genevieve Siegel-Hawley offers insight on NYC rezoning ruling

Dr. Genevieve Siegel-Hawley, an assistant professor in the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership, provided her expert insight for a recent Mother Jones article titled, “3 Ways White Kids Benefit Most From Racially Diverse Schools.”

Centering around New York City’s recent controversial school rezoning plan that will send white, upper-class students to a high-poverty school, the article examines ways that this integration will actually be beneficial for both sides.

Siegel-Hawley, a leading scholar on issues of race and segregation in schools, recently commented in a similar article for NPR as well.
