Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

The Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages prepares professionals to work with K-12 students whose native language is something other than English. The certificate provides the knowledge and strategies needed to support the learning of ESL students and fosters a tolerance and appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity.

The course sequence meets the Virginia Department of Education requirements for endorsement in ESL. Please note, however, that endorsement requires that individuals have an active teaching license in Virginia.
