Special education, adapted curriculum licensure endorsement

Along with four other universities in Virginia, the School of Education’s Department of Counseling and Special Education offers the coursework necessary for licensure endorsement in special education, adapted curriculum. To be eligible for this endorsement, individuals must have an M.Ed. in special education, and complete 15 hours of coursework, including:

  • SEDP 600 – Communication for Students with Severe Disabilities (three credits)
  • SEDP 612 – Assessment and Curriculum for Students with Severe Disabilities (three credits)
  • SEDP 610 – Teaching Strategies for Students with Severe Disabilities (three credits)
  • SEDP 658 – Educating Students with Physical and Sensory Disabilities (three credits)
  • SEDP 651 – Characteristics of Students with Severe Disabilities (three credits)
