New intern/student teaching orientation
The Spring 2018 new intern/student teaching orientation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, in the VCU Student Commons starting at 4:30 p.m.
Spring 2018 intern/student teaching dates start Monday, January 8, 2018 and run until May 4, 2018. Students should report to their assigned schools on Monday, January 8th.
Fall 2018 - intern/student teaching application deadline
Deadline to submit intern/student teaching application for Fall 2018 is February 1, 2018. Students must submit the following with completed application: Praxis II score report, VCLA, TB test results. Applications are located on the Student Services Center webpage under forms.
Fall 2017 graduates may submit applications for VA teacher licensure starting January 16, 2018. This is the official date that degrees will be posted. Please submit completed applications to the Student Services Center, 1st floor - Oliver Hall – Room 1037.
NEW Requirement – Effective, September 1, 2017 – documentation of HANDS-ON practice is required for First Aid, CPR and AED training.
Effective July 1, 2013, an individual submitting an initial application for a license or a licensure renewal request must submit official documentation providing evidence of the completion of certification or training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators.
Effective, July 1, 2017 students will be required to request VCU official transcripts for undergraduate and graduate programs to submit with their application for VA licensure.
Effective July 1, 2017 all students seeking initial teacher licensure are required to complete the New Dyslexia Awareness Training Module. For details, please visit this website.
Praxis II information
Students applying for the graduate teaching internship must submit passing Praxis II scores with their application; review the Virginia Department of Education’s assessment requirements [PDF] for information.

Meritorious New Teacher Candidate designation
Teaching candidates that qualify for the Meritorious New Teacher Candidate designation should complete the MNTC application form and submit it to the Dean’s Office in Oliver Hall, Room 2090.
GRE general test
Information about the GRE general test, including how to register, test dates, test sites and practice test to help you prepare, can be found on the Educational Testing Service website. To report your scores to VCU, use the institution code: #R5570.
