Special Education, Adapted Curriculum Licensure Endorsement

The School of Education’s Department of Counseling and Special Education offers the coursework necessary for licensure endorsement in special education, adapted curriculum. To be eligible for this endorsement, individuals must have their licensure endorsement in special education - general education K-12, and complete 12 hours of coursework, including:

  • SEDP 501 – Characteristics of Individuals with Disabilities: ADCR* (3 credits)
  • SEDP 533 – Assessment of Individuals with Disabilities: ADCR* (3 credits)
  • SEDP 601 – Instructional Methods and Programming for Individuals with Disabilities: ADCR* (3 credits)
  • SEDP 658 – Individualized Supports and Specialized Care of Students With Significant Disabilities (3 credits)

* Please be sure to enroll for sections marked ADCR.  The ADCR section is specifically designed to meet the VDOE requirements for 8VAC20-543-460: special education adapted curriculum K-12.
