Child Development Center achieves new accreditation term
The VCU Child Development Center, which is affiliated with the VCU School of Education, recently achieved a new five-year term of accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the gold standard for early childhood programs across the country.
"We are extremely proud of this achievement," said Thomas H. Beatty, Ed.D., director of the center. "Accreditation is a rigorous process, but one that we welcome as a continual quality improvement mechanism. Maintaining our NAEYC accreditation is another measure of our excellence as a premier provider of high-quality early learning for young children."
One of just 12 centers in Richmond to hold NAEYC accreditation, the CDC is committed to a safe, nurturing environment for its children, and prides itself on maintaining a close relationship with its families and communities.
The NAEYC is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy and research. The association is made up of nearly 60,000 individual members of the early childhood community and more than 50 affiliates, all committed to delivering on the promise of high-quality early learning.
