Andrew Daire, Ph.D., dean and Ruth Harris Professor in the VCU School of Education, has been named by the Florida State University College of Education as one of its Distinguished Alumni for 2021.

Established in 1985, the College of Education Distinguished Alumni Awards provide an avenue for honoring graduates of the college who have distinguished themselves through scholarly, creative and humanitarian achievement and service to their profession. Each year, recipients are nominated by their peers and selected by a committee of College of Education alumni, retired faculty and current staff members.

Daire will be recognized in the Postsecondary Systems category, which recognizes alumni who currently hold or have held teaching or leadership positions within a local, state, or national professional educational organization; a post-secondary educational institution; or educational policy-making/review board, and have publications that reflect scholarship, research or advancement of the profession.

Daire and five other alumni will be recognized for their achievements in the field of education during a ceremony to be held Friday, Oct. 22, as part of FSU Homecoming Week.
