Dr. Alcaine to lead upcoming NORDP webinar discussion
Jose G. Alcaine, Ph.D., director of research services in the Office of Research and Faculty Development and affiliate faculty in the Department of Foundations of Education at the VCU School of Education, will lead a webinar discussion April 7, 2021, as part of programming for the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP).
In the discussion, Building Bridges and Breaking Silos: Relationship Building in Research Development, Alcaine plans to highlight ongoing research development activities as part of his work in grant submissions, grant writing, and providing resources and support for faculty colleagues active in the external funding space. Alcaine will also highlight the importance of having nationally known centers active in the community and how their activities are a source of not only national prominence and excellence but also a source for meaningful relationship building and impactful work.
NORDP is the only national, professional association dedicated solely to research development. As described, NORDP is a “robust and diverse community with a culture of helping one another advance research globally.” The organization describes research development as “catalytic, and capacity-building activities that advance research, especially in higher education,” and that help researchers bring ideas to life. Alcaine tries to help in that respect at the SOE and VCU as part of the overall mission of the university.
