Dr. Hoffman featured in Virginia Capitol Connections
The VCU School of Education’s Adria Hoffman, Ph.D., Anna Lou Schaberg Professor of Practice in the Department of Teaching and Learning, is a featured author in the Summer/Fall 2021 issue of Virginia Capitol Connections magazine.
Hoffman’s article – Removing the Teacher Workforce Barriers – looks at the teacher shortage that is threatening the strength of Virginia’s public schools. Citing data that says only one-third of first-year teachers in Virginia complete a teacher preparation program in Virginia, Hoffman advocates for a reallocation of financial resources to provide up-front funding to teacher candidates during their teacher preparation degree programs. The strong example she provides is the RTR Residency Program.
Virginia Capitol Connections features articles on important public policy and political issues written by leading legislators, executive branch officials, political scientists, lobbyists and others. The magazine.is a branch of David Bailey Associates, a full-service public relations, government affairs, and lobbying firm.
