Elizabeth Edmondson receives $1.3M grant

The NIH grant will fund a project to support health science education.

Elizabeth Edmondson, Ph.D., research professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, was awarded a $1.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the Pathways for Authentic Teaching of Health Sciences (PATHS) project. PATHS will support 60 secondary school educators in historically underserved rural and urban Virginia communities. Using culturally responsive practices, teachers will receive curriculum support and professional development to engage and prepare students interested in pursuing careers in health professions. The grant award provides funding for five years.
