The VCU School of Education's Office of Strategic Engagement (OSE) is featured in an article in the March 2021 issue of Richmond magazine on the culturally responsive teaching (CRT) protocol at CodeRVA, part of a push for inclusivity, equity and diversity at the Richmond magnet school.

The article features quotes from Joshua Cole, Ph.D., OSE executive director; Kume Goranson, CodeRVA's executive director who is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Leadership at SOE; and Joy Beatty, a humanities teacher at CodeRVA and daughter of Thomas Beatty, Ed.D., director of the VCU Child Development Center, which is affiliated with SOE. Cassandra Stanley, Ed.D., OSE's assistant director, is also featured in the article.

Richmond magazine, which has covered the Richmond region for over 40 years, has won multiple Virginia Press Association (VPA) awards, including being named VPA's 2019 Grand Sweepstakes Winner.
