The RTR Residency program, a program within the VCU School of Education, is featured in a recent Richmond Free Press article on Richmond Public Schools’ (RPS) highest achieving student.

The student, Harold Aquino-Guzman, was George Wythe High School’s senior class president and valedictorian for the 2020-21 school year. He was also the top achieving RPS student with a GPA of 5.1392.

Aquino-Guzman received acceptance letters from a dozen colleges and universities, as well as scholarship offers totaling more than $1 million. He chose to attend VCU, his dream school. He said that his ultimate dream is to enter the RTR Residency program and return to George Wythe as a math teacher “so that other students in Richmond Public Schools can have the same opportunities I had.”
