We keep you moving toward your educational goals
Going to college can be tough and complicated, but our Office of Licensure and Clinical Experiences provides support to navigate all the many paths you face as undergraduates – especially if you’re looking to become a licensed teacher or school counselor.
Advising: We serve students in extended teacher preparation, post-baccalaureate and special education programs prior to formal admission to graduate programs. We’ll assign you a faculty adviser when you enter the school.
Applications: When it’s time for you to apply to teacher preparation programs, clinical placements for practica, student teaching, internships, externships or state licensure, we’re here to walk you through those processes.
Student Tracking: We monitor and document your progress through licensure programs. We also archive the related application information.
General Support: If you have questions, we’ll help you find the right information - including graduation assistance or changing your major. We also offer workshops and other resources for student life in the School of Education.
Admission to our Teacher Preparation Program is a distinct and unique admission process, separate from admission to the University. Admission to the program will provide entry and candidacy for our licensure program tracks.

All candidates must complete at least one practicum and must pass this before proceeding through the program and upper level clinical experiences. Depending on your program's requirements, and on your desired school district, you may have to complete a Background Check, TB screen, and/or various HR forms. You will be contacted by the Office of Licensure and Clinical Experiences after you have enrolled in a practicum course.
Student teaching applications for Fall semester are due by Feb. 1. Student teaching applications for Spring semester are due by Sept. 1. Contact us if you have questions about what forms to submit by what deadline.
