Bio

Dr. Michelle A. C. Hicks is an assistant professor of special education and disability policy at the Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Hicks received her master’s degree in education from Old Dominion University. She holds her teaching certifications in the areas of specific learning disabilities, specific emotional disabilities. In addition to her 27 years in the K-!2 special education, she was an AACTE Holmes Scholar. Her research includes braille literacy, teacher preparation, and Autism supports for families.
