The Certificate in Special Education K-12 Teaching is an online program designed to meet the coursework needs of Virginia provisionally licensed special education teachers who work with students with disabilities learning the general curriculum. This program is considered an alternate pathway to special education, general curriculum licensure. With documented on-the-job teaching experience and completion of statutory requirements for initial licensure, students work with their school division to apply for teacher licensure upon graduation from the program.
