Study Abroad and REAL Experiences
Plan Your Study Abroad Today
Did you think that as an education student you couldn’t study abroad? Well, nothing could be further from the truth! Studying abroad can help you become well-rounded, heighten your employability, and also help you gain valuable, transferable skills.
The Global Education Office study abroad website is a great resource as you start planning your study abroad adventure.
VCU's Education Abroad Office has launched Rams Abroad 101, an online informational tool to help students better understand their study abroad options and processes. Rams Abroad 101 is the first step toward studying abroad. Students can participate in Rams Abroad 101 online any time of day from anywhere at global.vcu.edu/abroad to explore opportunities available to study, intern, or research abroad and the steps necessary to make study abroad a reality.
Students will also learn about funding, earning credit and next steps.
As you research your study abroad options and complete the Rams Abroad 101 online course, schedule a meeting with your academic advisor through Navigate to talk about timing and course planning to plan your travel AND stay on track with your degree.
Students are encouraged to meet individually with an Education Abroad advisor after participating in Rams Abroad 101. Contact VCU Education Abroad at abroad@vcu.edu or call 804-827-7882. Go beyond the Compass!
This opportunity is open to students in all majors who have completed 60 undergraduate credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
This will be an excellent opportunity for students to earn money as a part-time job, as well as give back to their communities and build their resumes.
Training will be provided to selected candidates by each school division; therefore, no experience is necessary. We are strongly seeking junior/senior-level undergraduate and graduate students. Pay rates vary by school division but average $65-$75 per day. Students may set their own schedule but should commit to substituting a minimum of four days per month.

REAL (Relevant, Experiential and Applied Learning)
REAL is VCU’s experiential learning initiative. It's a student-centered and faculty-driven answer to a challenge given by President Rao to ensure that every VCU graduate has at least one high-quality, experiential and career-focused learning experience during their time at VCU.
