We find answers to tough questions in education today
Through an aggressive research portfolio, our faculty and students are at the forefront of finding solutions and designing evidence-based practices to overcome challenges and enhance education for everyone.
As our research grows, the UNmatched impact of our work is accelerating our vision to transform the lives of those we serve, especially those who have been historically marginalized in those communities. Underlying our efforts is our UNequaled tenacity, vision and commitment to making a difference.
Our researchers attract high-profile funding and deliver results
A research powerhouse, our School of Education relentlessly pursues advances across the lifespan of human development and learning. Our work encompasses highly-recognized research funded by key social sciences, education and health funding partners, including:
U.S. National Science Foundation
National Institutes of Health
Department of Education
Department of Health and Human Services
Social Security Administration
As part of a Carnegie Classified R1 research institution, our school contributes significantly to the university’s research mission. We enrich the human experience, advance a just and equitable society, and optimize health and wellness in our communities through the impactful work of dedicated faculty, students and staff.
In fact, our new sponsored funding represents 8.6% of the record of $464.6 million awarded to VCU researchers across our Monroe Park, Medical College of Virginia and Qatar campuses.
Research Labs and Centers
Through research labs, centers and institutes, our faculty are studying contemporary issues in education and delivering critical community services. These also offer hands-on practice for future professionals.
Collaborative Research
We want to make research collaboration simple. That’s why we offer the Research Interest Network, which provides easy research connections between faculty members on existing research projects. The RIN supports both faculty-to-faculty and faculty-to-student collaborations (undergraduate and graduate).
