Tomika L. Ferguson, Ph.D., assistant professor and co-coordinator of the Ed.D. in Leadership program, will be a panelist at a congressional briefing on March 11 led by U.S. Rep. Al Lawson of Florida and members of the Congressional Collegiate Sports Caucus, to discuss name, image and likeness policy, issues of player compensation, and institution accountability in collegiate athletics.

Ferguson, a former University of Virginia All-American track and field athlete, will be joined on the panel by L.A. Sparks point guard Kristi Toliver, former National Football League player and author Robert Turner II, Ph.D., and former United Football League player and author Maurice Clarett.

Lawson, a former college athlete and coach, introduced the NCAA Act (H.R. 2036) in 2019, which focuses on facilitating systematic changes to collegiate athletics. The caucus was created to provide protections for amateur and professional athletes, and address concerns about the integrity and fairness of collegiate athletics.
