MERC podcast series focuses on educational equity

A new podcast series called Profiles in Educational Equity from the Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium (MERC) features stories of initiatives in each of the seven MERC school divisions designed to advance equity for students and educators throughout the Richmond metropolitan area.

Launched in conjunction with the 2019 MERC Conference, the series features stories of experiential learning, alternative education, mentoring, adaptive physical education, professional development, student ambassadors and literacy curricula. There are 32 guests in the series, including a superintendent, administrators and other school division leaders, teachers and students.

The podcasts began on August 30 and continue every Friday through October 11. This Friday’s September 6 podcast is titled “Adaptive Physical Education in Powhatan County Public Schools” and will be hosted by Melissa Cuba, MERC evaluation specialist.

Episodes are also available on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, and the homepage for the MERC podcast Abstract. MERC is a partnership between the School of Education and the seven school divisions in the metro area.
