A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed recently between the VCU School of Education and United International College (UIC) at the 9th UIC International Postgraduate Education Information Fair in Zhuhai, China.

SOE Dean Andrew Daire signed the MoU with UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai.

Daire explained to a reporter at the fair that VCU focuses on community-engaged learning and that this is his first time at UIC, and second time in China. He plans for the school to globalize and expand further.

Daire also said that he is impressed with the students at UIC, describing them as thoughtful and well prepared. He mentioned that he has even met some students before at an international conference.

Daire also wants to establish MoU’s with selected universities, as opposed to just having multiple MoU’s. He wants to form strong relationships for future exchanges, such as having VCU students study abroad at UIC and vice versa.

VCU is interested in learning more about UIC’s new graduate program, along with incorporating possible internships and learning opportunities. In addition, with this agreement, UIC students will not have to take the GRE for entry to VCU.
