SOE alum Rodney Robinson: National Teacher of the Year

Richmond is officially home to the country’s best teacher.

Rodney Robinson, who works in the city’s juvenile detention center, was announced Wednesday as the National Teacher of the Year on CBS This Morning, becoming the first teacher ever from Richmond Public Schools and just the third in Virginia history to claim the title.

“Richmond has a crown jewel,” said Hubert Anderson, a former student of Robinson’s who eventually became a teacher.
