Dr. Shakeshaft wins AERA Excellence in Research Award

Charol Shakeshaft, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, is the winner of the 2020 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division A Distinguished Contributions to Research in Education Award.

Dr. Shakeshaft received the award based on her research on gender issues in leadership schools and schooling, as well as her research on identification and prevention of school employee sexual misconduct.

The award is AERA's premier acknowledgment of outstanding achievement and success in education research, and its purpose is to publicize, motivate, encourage and suggest models for education research at its best.

AERA is a national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.
