Dr. Jeffery Wilson, an associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership in the VCU School of Education, was recently awarded the opportunity to participate in this year’s Harris-Manchester College Oxford University Summer Research Institute, which will be held from June 28 to July 5.

When Wilson saw the application for the research institute in the Global Education Office, he immediately knew he wanted to apply. In his application, he wrote that his area is "diversity and higher education, but that has only been limited to diversity in American universities. I want to see how diversity is perceived in other parts of the world, specifically Harris-Manchester. This will give my research an international flair."

Wilson has previously been to the Bahamas and Canada for speaking engagements, and this would give him the opportunity to do more international work.

"I’ve been working with the people at Oxford to set up my travel arrangements. This will be my first time going to Europe and will definitely be the highlight of my summer," he said.

Two faculty members each year attend the research institute, and Wilson is thrilled to meet the other scholars. "Working on our individual projects, attending seminars, and exploring will be a great opportunity to work with fellow scholars," he said.

At the close of the research period, Wilson and his peers will present their research and projects in a colloquium.
