Brian Condit

Program

Hello! My name is Brian Condit and I am a future science teacher serving the students of Richmond Public Schools. Currently, I am a member of the seventh cohort of Richmond Teacher Residency program and I am fulfilling my residency at Richmond Community High School where I teach Chemistry and Algebra.

Background

After graduating from a local high school, I packed up and moved to Seattle, WA where I studied Chemistry at the University of Washington. While an undergrad, I spend most of my time with the school's marching band where I served as the clarinet section leader for two seasons. Go Dawgs!

Why do you want to teach?

I was fortunate enough to be hired on to a top Northwest band program to assist and teach with the marching band, where I developed a love for teaching and supporting students. That experience led me to pursue teaching full time. I found a perfect fit in the Richmond Teacher Residency program; my mom was happy to have me home and I was able to pursue a social justice oriented teaching certification.

What has the Noyce program meant to you?

Luckily, through the RTR stipend and the NOYCE scholarship, I am able to avoid accruing more student debt which frees me up to focus solely on my studies without anxiety of a negative bank account. Through NOYCE, I hope to dive deeper into the research aspects that surround the education field while collaborating with my colleagues in the other science and mathematics content areas.
