Background

I have very little formal experience in education. I taught test prep for Kaplan and English at an overseas summer camp over 10 years ago.

Why do you want to teach?

I wanted to have a meaningful career in which I can apply my knowledge in order to raise interest in the sciences and to improve science literacy.

Please tell us about a memorable teaching experience and why it stands out in your mind.

My first day of teaching at Franklin Military Academy this year was especially memorable. I've never had to memorize so many names! It was the first time that I realized that I was THE teacher and that I would be responsible for the successful learning experience of many bright young adults.

What has the Noyce program meant to you?

The NOYCE program has been extra motivation for me to start my career in teaching science in the urban setting. The program has provided me with the resources necessary to be successful as a pre-service Biology teacher.
