Event at Science Museum helps SOE researchers impact policy
VCU School of Education faculty and students recently learned new ways to ensure that their research has an impact on informing state and national policy.
"Turning Your Education Research into Policy," co-sponsored by SOE and The L. Douglas Wilder School Center for Public Policy, featured Virginia first lady Pamela Northam as keynote speaker and a panel of experts who fielded questions from the audience about the process through which researchers can impact policy.
Panelists included Northam, a former teacher; Virginia delegates Lamont Bagby and John McGuire; Virginia Deputy Secretary of Education Frances C. Bradford; Dr. Genevieve Siegel-Hawley, associate professor, Department of Educational Leadership; Dr. Shelly Smith, clinical associate professor, Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems, VCU School of Nursing; and Dean Andrew Daire of the School of Education.
