Special Education Funding

All of our teacher preparation programs have financial support available to support your studies. For the 2014-15 academic year, we are seeking applications for all programs, with funding available in the following programs:

  • Early childhood special education concentration of M.Ed. program (tuition and stipend)
  • Severe disabilities concentration of M.Ed. program (tuition for those holding a provisional license)
  • General education concentration of M.Ed. program (tuition and stipend for those accepted into the Richmond Teacher Residency cohort)

We also offer reduced tuition rates for the licensure-only Certifying Online Virginia Educators program, also known as COVE, which provides coursework needed to earn the Virginia special education general curriculum endorsement for those holding a conditional or provisional license in the area.

For Ph.D. candidates, graduate assistantships may also be available that provide a stipend, tuition support and an opportunity to work with our outstanding faculty. Please contact Dr. Kevin Sutherland, the concentration coordinator, at kssuther@vcu.edu for more information.
