Line of Research

I examine historical examples of community education as a means of self-advocacy for African Americans to promote and advance their social welfare. I also explore workforce development programs and their impact on low-income adult learners and job seekers.

Biography

After over a decade of managing workforce development programs for social services and low-income housing agencies in Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland, Kiara relocated to Chesterfield, Virginia and works full time for the Virginia Department of Social Services. She is a part-time student at VCU and enjoys traveling and making special memories with her six-year-old son.
